Clive Nash Selected for England LX Over 60s World Cup Squad
Clive Nash has achieved a remarkable sporting milestone with his selection for the England LX Over‑60s squad heading to the World Masters Hockey World Cup this August. His journey to the final squad reflects exceptional performance in a highly competitive field.
England LX is widely regarded as the premier hockey club for players aged 60 and above, drawing together some of the most experienced and accomplished masters athletes in the country. This year’s selection process was no exception, with strong competition across all positions especially in goal.
Clive’s campaign began with an early‑morning January journey to Nottingham for the first round of trials, where he was one of eight goalkeepers competing for limited places across four trial teams. His performance secured him a well‑earned place in the second trial, held in February at the impressive Worcester International Hockey Centre. Here, the field narrowed to three teams and six goalkeepers, raising the level of intensity and further showcasing Clive’s ability to perform under pressure.
Following this stage it was confirmed he made the final squad. England LX will be taking two teams LX O65 Red and LX O65 White to the World Cup.
With selection secured, Clive now looks ahead to a challenging programme of warm‑up matches against national sides an essential step in preparing for the level of competition expected at the tournament.
The World Masters Hockey World Cup will take place in Breda, Netherlands, from 6–16 August, bringing together teams from across the home nations and European powerhouses such as Germany and the Netherlands. For Clive, it marks not only a personal achievement but also an opportunity to represent England in a global showcase of masters hockey excellence.
This selection is a testament to Clive’s dedication to the sport, his fitness and his enduring competitive spirit. We will be cheering him on as he prepares to take the field in Breda later this year.
Congratulations, Clive and best of luck at the World Cup!
