Match Report | Wilts hosted 4th position City of Bath B this week at their home ground. City of Bath (CoB) were close enough in the table to make this a ‘must win’ game. Wilts started well, creating chance after chance in the first half. Even though they struggled to get into their stride Wilts did ultimately play well. A little more clinical in and around the CoB ‘D’ could’ve led to a discernible lead for the hosts at half time. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. CoB caught Wilts on the break and scored to make the score 1-0 at half time. The second half started in a similar vein, but with Wilt injecting slightly more pace and energy into their game. Centre back, Chris Warren, linked with left back, Nick Lemon, and scored Wilts opening goal. Lemon then drove Wilts forward with his Man of the Match performance from left back, releasing ball after ball to the Wilts attacking line. More opportunities were created in the CoB ‘D’ and this time Wilts were able to capitalise on them. Toby Dorgan scored a cracking goal and James Baker got a brace to take Wilts score to 4. CoB managed to get another goal in this half in spectacular fashion – a baseball swing from top ‘D’ into the top corner of the Wilts goal. Wilts ended up winning 4-2 and take the energy and passion from this game into next week where they play 3rd place Corsham. It’s tight at the top and Wilts will be looking to stamp their authority on the top spot of the table. |
