Men's 2XI Vs Team Bath Buccs F

Wilts 2nd XI travelled to play Bath Buccs F this week, one of the few teams to take points off them in the first half of the season.

Wilts were keen from the start to impress their will on the game. Fast play from the back to move the oppo around and exploit the gaps that formed lead to Wilts taking the opening goal. Toby Dorgan netted again to continue his goal scoring form. A well marshalled midfield, with superb work from Cameron Jessup (man of the match) shut out Buccs and maintained possession for Wilts. Many attacking opportunities came in the first half; Ben Lemon stepped up and netted from a short corner to continue his recent form in front of goal. Dorgan turned provider and set James Baker up for an opportunity to score which he took with composure. Buccs did manage a break away goal before half time, but against the run of play.

In the second half Wilts continued to assert their dominance and scored through Jonny Hackett after a superb run into the D. Joe Veacock also netted again (another fine goal scoring run building for him). Buccs managed to get a breakaway goal that was worked well from a Wilts short corner that didn’t go to plan, but Clive Nash (GK) marshalled his defence well to prevent that happening again.

All in all, Wilts did what they set out to do – another 3 points and maintain pressure on those teams around them in the top of the table. The performance could’ve been better at times, but they’ve built great momentum to take into the important games over the next 3 weeks.
