Match Report | West Wilts hosted City of Bath 4th XI in their 3rd league game of the season. Currently top of the table they were keen to continue to assert their dominance on the division. The game started well with Wilts' tactical play making the difference. CoB didn't really pressure the Wilts defence and Wilts were able to play the ball around with some slick hockey at times. Notable mentions for Joe Veacock making his CDM debut and helping to run the show and for Jamie Greys' work rate up top. By the end of the first half the score was 4-0 to Wilts courtesy of Hugh Newmarch, Ben Lemon, Jamie Grey and Luke Brown sharing the goals around. The second half went much the same way as the first. Wilts were dominant across the pitch. Effective use of the substitutes allowed Wilts to work hard right up until the final whistle. In the second half CoB took more chances and pushed forward to try and turn the tide. They found a little success by countering to win a short corner and covnerting that to a goal. Antoher 2 goals for Newmarch (making his hat-trick), one for James Baker and another for Grey ensured Wilts won with a great goal difference. 8-1 the final score. Man of the match to Hugh Newmarch for his astounding performance leading the line, including a superb 'top of the D' strike into the top corner of the net. |
