Team news and match reports
| West Wilts Mixed XI 1 | Peelers Mixed XI 0 |
| Shahair Aissaoui |
This was a competitive but friendly match against Bristol-based Peelers.
Wilts took control of game early on with Dan
Sheppard and Shah Aissaoui playing the ball effectively round the opposition,
followed up by some strong goal-crosses from Martin Allsop and run-ins from
Nicci Foster. Millie Cornish and Olivia Evans provided good supportive roles out
in the midfield channels and Robert Kerr-Bonner made some strong centre runs
from the 25 yard line. Wilts had several chances to score but ultimately hit the
back of net just once from Shah Aissaoui as a result of some well-worked link
passing. Peelers weren't without their breaks but Mark Brothers made some
excellent saves to ensure none of the shots were converted.
| West Wilts Mixed XI 5 | Apaches Mixed XI 1 |
| Dave Yalland (1), Fiona Pridham (1), Netty Pellow (2), Rob Kerr-Bonner (1) |
An excellent all-round team performance for the West Wilts Mixed Team has put them through to the final of this local Mixed Cup Competition. Good supportive play and cross-pitch link passing were the hallmark of this match. Netty Pellow opened the scoring following a pick up from a long cross in and a perfectly weighted shot on goal. The other goals came from Fiona Pridham, Robert Kerr-Bonner, Dave Yalland and a second from Netty Pellow.
| Gloucester City Mixed XI 7 | West Wilts Mixed XI 4 |
| Anji Whittamore (1), Marty Pellow (1), Olly Goddard (2) |
It was an excellent team effort from Wilts but they were ultimately defeated by a pacey, well drilled opposition in this first round of the National Mixed Cup.
Gloucester City showed their skill and pace early on with their first goal coming after just 9 minutes. However Wilts replied with an excellent goal from Olly Goddard struck from a tight angle far wide of the goal post. This was followed just a few minutes later with a well-timed touch from Anji Whittamore to take Wilts into the lead. Gloucester then evened the score after a further two minutes following the award for a short corner. The remainder of the half saw Wilts display some great skill, coupled with excellent positioning and supportive play across the team. Wilts keeper Hamish Wyper made some excellent saves and along with his defensive team, showed calm and composure as Gloucester City battled hard at goal. Both teams' strong play was awarded with a goal apiece to take the half-time score to 3 - 3, Wilts goal coming from a strongly drilled ball across the circle by Marty Pellow.
The second half started in a similar vein to the first with both teams scoring, Wilts fourth coming from a well worked chip past the keeper from Olly Goddard. Gloucester City then took the lead, with their pace and quick skill coming to the forefront. Wilts refused to give up but despite several committed saved from keeper Hamish Wyper the final score stood at 7 - 4.

| Dave Yalland (5), Jess McLean (1), Martin Allsop (2) |
It was another comprehensive win for the West Wilts Mixed team in this good natured friendly against Barons.
The team utilised the width of the pitch to maximum effect and unselfish distribution resulted in some lovely play across the team. With Luke Sheppard and James Baker providing a solid unit in defence, space was provided to Martin Allsop who worked tirelessly in the centre of the pitch and passed play through the waiting Dave Yalland. Goals were shared between Dave Yalland (5), Martin Allsop (2) and Jess Mclean (1).
| West Wilts Mixed XI 0 | Bath Buccs Mixed XI 0 |
West Wilts continued their unbeaten run in an entertaining encounter that was bereft of goals but not entertainment.
Despite the difficult weather conditions posed by the heavy rain and high wind, both teams set out to play expansive hockey that was only prevented from troubling the scorers by some top quality defending and goalkeeping. Netty Pellow controlled the midfield from the outset, distributing the ball to both wings, where Maria Warren and Olly Goddard took the game to Bath Buccs and stretched their defence on several occasions. Martin Allsop went close as Marty Pellow provided a series of telling passes, supported by strong runs from Matt Kenyon. Despite having the upper hand in possession, Wilts had to be on their toes as Bath Buccs were quick to counter and Nicola Yalland and Gus Kerr-Bonner were both called on to make timely tackles on a number of occasions.
In the second half Wilts kept up the pressure and were only thwarted by some very good saves from the Bath Buccs keeper. Jess Mclean supported Nicci Foster on the left wing and pressured whenever they had the ball. Olly Goddard was unlucky not to score as he watched his flick fly agonizingly close. But once again Bath Buccs were happy to soak up the pressure and attack whenever the opportunity arose. James Baker was called on to make a series of tackles in midfield and on the few occasions that Bath Buccs got near the penalty area, good tracking by the whole team ensured that the ball was recovered and cleared into a Wilts attack. Ultimately the two defences were to emerge triumphant as the teams shared the spoils.
| West Wilts Mixed XI 8 | Mendip Mixed XI 0 |
| Martin Allsop (3), Netty Pellow (3), Matt Kenyon (1), Olly Goddard (1) |
Two Wilts players enjoyed hat-tricks in this good natured friendly. Mendip struggled to cope with West Wilts' on-field numerical advantage as Wilts fielded 11 on-field players and no goal keeper. Strong link passing, good support and some unselfish play resulted in a comprehensive win. Goal scorers were Netty Pellow (3), Martin Allsop (3), Olly Goddard (1) and Matt Kenyon (1).
| Old Bristolians Mixed XI 1 | West Wilts Mixed XI 6 |
| Craig Kilminster (1), Dave Cooper (3), Laura Allsop (1), Netty Pellow (1) |
Despite the miserable October weather it was a smiling Wilts team that comfortably guaranteed their place in the next round of the Cup competition.
Asserting their strength from the start, Wilts immediately went on the attack. With strength in the middle coming from Marty Pellow and Dave Cooper, Wilts played the ball around OBs, drawing them out of their circle and enabling Wilts to push at goal. The first goal came from a well structured run and well timed finish from Dave Cooper. This was shortly followed up by a second, similarly well-worked goal. Wilts continued to dominate throughout the first half with Netty Pellow getting the third, and Dave Cooper completing his hat-trick before the half-time whistle.
Despite OBs upping the pressure in the second half, Wilts continued to dominate. OBs threats on the Wilts goal were defended solidly by Hamish Wyper in goal and the defensive team of Nicola Yalland and James Baker. Wilts continued efforts were rewarded by two further goals from Laura Allsop and Craig Kilminster. Shortly before the final whistle OBs made a run and playing the ball through the Wilts midfield were given space to take a well weighted shot from the top of the circle and into the net.
| West Wilts Mixed XI 5 | Bath CD Mixed XI 0 |
| Dave Yalland (5) |
A great team display resulted in this convincing win for the Wilts mixed team.
Dave Yalland netted all 5 goals assisted by some great supportive play from Daniel Sheppard. The first half saw the first three goals result from Wilts' supportive play and a strong attacking shape. They used space and width well ensuring play could be easily channelled past the opposition. The Wilts keeper - Juliette Turner - had little to do however a superb first half save ensured she kept a clean sheet. Bath CD did put the pressure on in the second half but some intelligent defensive play from Matt Kenyon and Anji Whittamore enabled them to cleanly clear the ball out hard to the waiting Wilts midfield and remove any threat from the Wilts goal.
